I left out the word "not" in a previous post. The US does NOT consider the fact that some other country considers you its citizen and you are an adult claiming US citizenship illegal. The US simply does not recognize loyalty to more than one nation if it is one of the nations.

The citizen of adult dual citizens is common. For example, if you are born British, The gov't of the UK ALWAYS considers you its citizen even if you become a US citizen. Yet the US Citizenship oath requires you to renounce allegiance to the British sovereign. Britain doesn't care; you are still a British subject in its eyes.
