Sorry. "Not" was supposed to be there. A naturalized citizen mut renounce all other citizenships, although the other nation may not recognize that renunciation.

Dual Nationality - India spun this aspect in a very smart way....

Back when I acquired NZ citizenship, India did not permit dual nationality, so I sent a notarized letter to the Indian Embassy, effectively saying "I give up my Indian citizenship".

These days India has introduced a classification called Overseas Citizen of India (OIC). This is not really citizenship - its a lifelong visa to live and work in the private sector in India.

Its restrictions are :
- you can not vote
- you can not work for any govt dept/agency (includes defence)

Its available to any person who was born in India and later acquired a different citizenship.
