Re: You are the one who has argued that attacking Iran would be a cakewalk.

Or am I missing something

Indeed, you're missing the other "cakewalk", namely, China's liberation of Taiwan.... Clue:

And the status of Taiwan, which China considers a renegade province, is the touchiest item in the U.S.-Chinese relationship "and one of the most dangerous flashpoints in the world," the report said.

China has feared for at least a decade that Taiwan may be slipping further out of its grasp, as the growth of democracy and "Taiwanization" of Taiwan's culture and politics could be pulling it further from the mainland, the report said.

While China is unlikely to risk war to force the island to be reunited with the mainland, most analysts agree China is serious when it says it would consider using force to prevent a final break, the report said.

Helping to defend civilian and military targets on Taiwan - more than 600 ballistic missiles are deployed opposite the island - "will require offensive and defensive capabilities that do not presently exist," the report said.

Hoehn said in an interview that "unless serious investments to defend against ballistic missile attack our judgment is that Taiwan could be overrun."

Crimson > am I missing something

What you're missing is that arguing with Gus is like trying to catch a greased pig -- whenever he's cornered he drops a fart and slips away. I know, I spent three months alone with him on an island in the Indian Ocean after the tsunami.
