Easier thant it is to resolve with a solution that guarantees security as well as temporary peace.

Especially when there is no particular impetus to strive for such a solution.

On the contrary, it is the exacerbation of that situation that was leveraged into a second term for the most incompetent, egregious failure ever to grace the White House.

An unthinking, unfeeling fool who will relieve Carter of the moniker of the worst president in memory, where he had heretofore been tied with Nixon....

OT - Hi Eric, you wrote:

"From hostages and self foiled rescues, to war in the ME."

Let's not mix apples and oranges here. The hostage crisis took place due to the enormous frustration the Iranian people felt with years of self-serving policies imposed on them by previous US administrations. To understand the hostage crisis one has to go back in history, to the early 1950's in Iran. The CIA, led by agent Kermit Roosevelt Jr, the grandson of US President Theodore Roosevelt, orchestrated "Operation Ajax" against the freely appointed leader of Iran, Dr. Mohammed Mosaddeq. Mosaddeq was the architect of the nationalization of the Iranian oil industry which was dominated and exploited by the British and later by the US. He was removed from power in order for the US to erect a puppet leader in his place, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.

The War in Iraq is another story. The plans for this attack were written and finalized much before 9/11, which was later used as an excuse to put the plan into operation. To truly understand what this war is all about one has to look into the activities of the The Carlyle Group, it's members and the billions of dollars they have made in the past decade.

"The circle is unbroken."

The only unbroken circle throughout the history of the Middle East has been the non-stop interference by the West, namely Great Britain and The US, to impose their will on the region and control the oil...which belongs to them to begin with.

"It is easy to criticize."

I vehemently disagree, it is very difficult to criticize. In fact the attitude of this administration has been to rip apart the lives and literally destroy anyone who criticizes it.

An Iranian-American friend of mine, who has lived in this country for over thirty years and considers the US his only home, was talking about the difficulties he faced coming back from a trip to Cancun with his wife and two young daughters. The government has now assigned a number to them, he explained, this number indicates the level of danger he and his family pose to the security of the US... He will never know what that number is, or whether it is just.

Easy to criticize? How easy was it for the Jew with a star on his clothing to criticize anything? What has happened to our laws, namely innocent until proven guilty, equality for everyone, freedom and our constitution...All of which had made this country the envy of the world?

All the above IMHO only,
SF
