I never brush off Hawk and have agreed with a lot of what he says especially regarding the military. Same for you as i said in my pm last month. But you are unable to remain civil. Your are an over the hill vietnam relic who uses your arrogant military demeanor to intimidate folks who disagree. Since Kumar apparently thinks it OK for me to take my "emotional shot", consider the above just that and please dont write to me unless you are willing to at least consider alternate views. Oh by the way, you are the guy who lost vietnam, not us draft dodgers. Look in the mirror. 54,000 sacrificed for hubris and with you leading the charge.

"Getting OBL will never be a goal that leads to an end, and you cannot demonstrate that it will."

I disagree. OBL is the Chairman of the Board of Al Queda Inc.. In order for him to build this organization he leveraged the family name and family wealth. Back in the day, it was far less difficult to move funds around to create a terror network. Witness all the attacks culminatin in 9/11. I trust it would be alot harder today. Al Zawahiri effectively is the CEO now and if we could nail him and OBL, we should end up with a lot of chickens without their heads running in circles. And once the Al Quaeda Humpty Dumpty is broken there is no way for some Saudi prince to just step in and thats assuming there was one who had the inclination. Getting OBL in Pakistan is extremely important. The Dems are after him in Afganistan where they confuse taliban for al queda. The republicans are after him in iraq where Hawk says only 200 remain. I say nail the SOB in the Tribal areas. Its an operation made for you to plan. But it takes a draft dodger to point it out to you. (g)

For starters, UW, I THOUGHT personal attacks were disallowed on this thread. I do believe that's what you just fired at michael. Shall we ask the moderator for an opinion?

Like michael, I don't lightly dismiss Hawk's opinions nor yours. I've found all three of you to be well informed posters who give considered opinions.

BUT: You could kill every member on the rolls of AQ (if there be such) and you'd still have the problem. Iran, Saudi, Syria, Iraq if we pull out quickly, ...

You don't need a MAN now; there are willing state sponsors of terror. How will killing OBL stop them? H***, all you'd do is give his followers a martyr. One of the worst things Virginia ever did was try and hang John Brown for "treason against the state of Virginia". It gave the abolitionist movement a martyr it needed.

Remember
"
John Brown's body lies a-mouldering in the grave,
John Brown's body lies a-mouldering in the grave,
John Brown's body lies a-mouldering in the grave,
But his soul goes marching on.

Chorus:
Glory, Glory, Hallelujah!
Glory, Glory, Hallelujah!
Glory, Glory, Hallelujah!
His soul goes marching on.

He's gone to be a soldier in the Army of the Lord
He's gone to be a soldier in the Army of the Lord
He's gone to be a soldier in the Army of the Lord
His soul goes marching on.
Chorus

John Brown's knapsack is strapped upon his back
John Brown's knapsack is strapped upon his back
John Brown's knapsack is strapped upon his back
His soul goes marching on.
Chorus

John Brown died that the slaves might be free
John Brown died that the slaves might be free
John Brown died that the slaves might be free
But his soul goes marching on.
Chorus

The stars above in Heaven now are looking kindly down
The stars above in Heaven now are looking kindly down
The stars above in Heaven now are looking kindly down
On the grave of old John Brown.
Chorus
