Don't know about Lizzie but I am talking about something of the magnitude of the MLS system you describe. The technology to do that is in the process of becoming commonly available, and is already on most servers today. It would be a distributed database, probably XML message based, run on everyone's browser, and would use something like MS-Sharepoint for collaboration.

I can understand why you think the MLS is something fantastic. Back when it was created it was, and getting it implemented then was an impressive feat. Things have changed. What was a big deal technologywise 5 years ago will be common in a few years. The technology is moving EXACTLY towards the direction that makes implementing large complex national (and global) systems practical. That is not a coincidence as most companies are going global and have many different hardware/software platforms. The new systems will have a "familiar" look and feel to users from day one.
