What would prove it wrong would be the groups actually winning to the extent that they get exactly what they want.

Stupid argument. As anybody with a few brain cells knows, guerrilla warfare is not about winning; it is about not losing. And Rummy's "dead-enders" have certainly proved that they have not lost. They have killed more US troops YTD 2007 than in any previous year.

Many experts said in 2003 that it would be easy to win a war against a fourth-rate or fifth-rate force like Saddam's. But it would be the ensuing mess that would be hard to contain. So, even as the Commander Guy was strutting about showing his packet on USS Lincoln, people were saying that the real war had not ended, but in fact had just begun.
