when money flows without the ability to track it, it is never possible to say if the flow is up or down.

Agreed, that's why his claim that it had improved was silly.

Given that AQ and its subsidiaries are still active, one wouold have to say the money flow is positive in their direction.

???? What kind of logic is this? Remaining in existence doesn't imply you have more money today than 10 years ago. Try again.

Positive yes but there is a huge difference between millions and billions. With bin dead where does the money go? Another connected saudi would have to jump in to the bin business but not so easy anymore. Could it be done? Sure. Likely? No.

Dems say the fight is in afganistan but that neatly avoids going after bin laden given where he is. Republicans are fighting bin laden in iraq where apparently a few hundred fighters (hawk) are causing some problems. I say find a way to get at him in pakistan. I think that is job #1 and i think that you, UW, Hawk are right to use Special Forces in such a fight. If we have to cross the pakistani border so be it. If we have to cut off aid to pakistan as you propose so be it. I dont understahd why you and UW dont think this to be that important if i am reading the posts correcly. As decentralized as al quaeda may be, bin laden is the charismatic leader and zawahiri the spiritual. Together they control tons of money. Dead they lose the money, bin laden perhaps becomes a martyr and decentralized al quaeda may start to unravel.
