Well, I'm pretty sure there has never been a US Muslim suicide bombing inside the US. Given that, I think my interpration of the poll (how many US Muslims think in some theoretical extreme situation suicide bombing can be justified) is more accurate than what seems to be the common interpretation (how many would do it themselves or might expect to do it at some point).

I don't think the idea of suicide bombing is as out there as you think. I'll bet in the Old West days there were loads of times where the Injuns massacred groups of pioneer families leaving only one or two who were away at the time alive, and then those one or two pioneers went and massacred Injun kids when their parents weren't around. That's similar to the suicide bomb concept, just without the suicide part. It's not very Christian, but it's also not that uncommon. In "exceptional circumstances" loads of unpleasant stuff can happen.
