"One of the highest mountain systems in the world"

Yes, I know.... (Alexander the Great is still remembered in those parts.)

And, the mountain range is a good thing, all things considered... for it means many FEWER VIABLE infiltration points.

(I suppose though that you would prefer to throw you hands up and leave al Qaeda to their devices, and to their sanctuaries, eh? Back to a 'bumper sticker slogan W.O.T.'.... Too sad.)

Remember: you don't have to achieve 100% closure to still be putting a MAJOR hurting on Taliban/al Qaeda/Pakistan's I.S.I.

Next step --- the Saudi financing.

I wonder if we could cover it with sensors like we used in Nam along the Ho Chi Ming trail, then swoop in with some A10's or high altitude heli's when a sensor kicked off? Or maybe just position some old 155 howitzers in the high spots along the border and lob a shell over when a sensor goes off? (I was an FO radio operator in a 155 unit in my military days, I seem to recall we had something like a 17 mile range). jdn
