OF COURSE I know how the candidates were chosen. I was THERE (we're you?).

I never stated it was a perfect electoral campaign. The infrastructure just did not exist for the kind of elections we hold in the US and elsewhere. But the difference is that people had the right to vote for different combined party based tickets, with each of the parties picking who would represent them in the government. And a larger percentage of total eligible Iraqis (including women) exercised their right to vote than Americans did in OUR last election.

That's a far cry from the previous "elections" in Iraq where allegedly 99% of the people "voted" for the sole candidate, Saddam Hussein.

And, if given the chance, I suspect future elections will be even more free and fair, with individual candidates running for office.

So don't worry about my embarrassing myself in "informed company".. So long as it involves debating you, it will never become a problem.
