I arrived in Iraq in early summer 2004, so I missed the events in Najaf where the US and Sadr's forces had the shoot out in the cemetery in April of that year. I'm not aware of the case you're referring to in Sadr City. However, it wouldn't surprise me since the Mahdi army crammed children into the Mosque they had occupied in Najaf.
