The problem is these people have hated each other since history began, the US ain't gonna change that in 4 yrs, or 40. Of course, before we invaded, we knew they hated each other and we knew there was a substantial risk of a civil war but our arrogance caused us to invade anyway. George W Bush is a reckless, risk taker whose early popularity intimidated many Democrats into going along with his reckless decision.

Look. Bush was elected in a shady manner. The GOPwinger operatives who took to Florida to disrupt that election recount then are, today, not appreciated.

To cloak being a president elected in such manner, also having lost the popular vote, meant to his handlers that he had to become a war president. He did. Call it a political gamble gone afoul!!!

Unfortunately, due to this gamble, America ever since has suffered!!!

That's the plain and simple of it.

But I suppose also it is worthy of mention that the whole game with Iraq has been to keep Iraq's oil out of market, especially since oil investment went elsewhere in the aftermath of the fall of the Shah of Iran. What's it take, 10 years or so to get return on oil investment? Then years later, Iraq flooding the spigots would mean more refineries, whether in this nation or others, and thus more oil in more nations at cheaper prices. This would not be good for the aftermath-Shah oil investors looking for a new return and recovering from a loss from Iran.

Indeed, Exxon, et. al., would not have fared as well today had Iraq's oil been allowed to come cheaply into the market. Remember, Saddam threatened to flood the world market with cheap oil. Or has anyone forgotten this?

I think if you put the two above points together we get a reason as to why we're at where we're at. And maybe now we know why Ms. USA was booed!

Should we toast the chair of the board of Exxon? Or Cheney maybe? Or should we consider true change in the direction our nation has been going? I vote for the latter!!!
