I don't think Dylan was at all political in his artistic expression and he often said so, although he had some political views and did write the odd song that was social. youtube.com youtube.com But Farina was the far more social-commentary folkie. ( part of the Pyncheon 'group' ) And Guthrie and Seeger youtube.com still more so. youtube.com Interestingly for what it's worth, both Baez, (joan and mimi) and Farina were Spanish-Irish in descent.

My class was a little different -- rather than coming from an aesthetics/classics viewpoint, we looked at music as a form of popular culture from a social scientific/political economic perspective.

Looks like good fun though!
