As bill joel said, we didnt start the fire. Hell this jew gets along with muslims and arabs at least those in NY where we are all part of one enormous family.
Whats going on in iraq is al quaeda/baath/thug instigation of sunni/shiaa conflict. And the shiaa leaders like al sadr dont help either because sunnis dont want to be ayotollah ruled.
Maybe think of it this way. Some religous nut in the US blows up a couple of catholic churches and tries to stoke the fires of a catholic/protestant war. After all they were once enemies and protestants dont dig the papacy even if they like the occasional pope. In the middle east these differences between sunni shiaa are not as far from the surface as catholic/protestant. Also add nationalism and race into the equation. I am sure the sunnis are calling iraqi shiaa names like persian lackies traitors to the arab people.
In any case its a problem in iraq that i hope doesnt spread to your family. By the way i just remembered reading recently that there was an attack in pakistan by sunni on shiaa minority. Is that true?
