Yes, Lizzie we are in a depression because college grads can't walk across the street to the next generic dot.com or daytrading outfit and double their salary while playing ping-pong all day long. God forbid kids actually have to work for a living. Looks like you've got it all figured out by way of your comparison periods. The fact of the matter is that if you are reasonably intelligent and work reasonably hard you'll do well for yourself. As someone who interviews kids from schools ranging from Ivy League to CUNY quite a bit, I can tell you this as a FACT: I am having a helluva time finding qualified applicants whereas 4 years ago I had so many it was unbelievable. It's now to the point where I have to start upping the $$ and incentives offered. $55k and 30-50% annual bonus out of school doesn't hack it anymore. If you don't want to believe me and you want to live in your la-la land, then go ahead. I'm only telling you what I see.
