I agree that faith is important to many people, and if they think it provides a moral compass that's OK with me.....I don't it's a necessary condition to have good morals, morals are simply common sense....in fact, I think atheists, as a whole, are more moral than any religious group.
I don't know what started evolution or the universe, but what bothers me is the billions of people who claim to know the "truth". How did they get so smart....I'm not. What sort of reasoning goes into their conclusions....what facts support their beliefs??? Why do people have trouble saying they don't know? I think the majority believe because they are hedging their bets or they are too mind boggled to try and rationalize and understand what they see around them. Religion begins where reason ends.... You may have lots of questions for God when you die but I think you will never know since you will not be going anywhere but in the dirt. And how can a reasonable person think that there is an "eternal heater".....any evidence of such? Satan? Angels? A human god? And btw, one does not "believe" in evolution.....you accept the scientific facts of evolution.
But as you say, if it works for you, use it but don't use it as an alternative to science. They are not in the same arena....
