Music/communication: Good insight. I think it is clear that is what birds are doing: wolves, whales, primates and humans.

The subjectivity and learned aspects of taste (an aquired taste-lol) may be a good analogy as well.

Communication is certainly part of the equation regarding world peace. But curiosity may be the other variable, once again the great movie "Proof" about a mathematical proof with Anthony Hopkins and Paltrow, shows well how some people have curiosity and like learning new things while other people are content to "count beads"-Plato-i.e. live according to whatever script they are given at birth and have little curiosity to engage in new ideas.

In the movie proof, Paltrow and her friends are wildly interested in this new thinking, while here sister had no interest at all and wanted to talk about a great place near her house where she could get freshly ground coffee.

It is impossible to get some people want to learn new things.

Personally, I think in the US that is what distingishes between liberals and conservsatives. A willingness and ability to change ones mind when new information is presented e.g. evolution and global warming.
