My point is that i suspect only a small portion of persian shiaa are this devout. There may be a higher percentage of devout shiaa arabs. Not sure.

Moharram is the start of the new year for muslims. Ashura is the 10th day in the month of Moharram. the 1st 10 days are a period of mourning by Shias, in remembrance of Imam Hussein's death.
