That's my alma mater, U of M Forestry School. We had two women in my class, and before that there had been only one woman in the forestry school. Now there are many women.

I believe it is much better to have women in forestry. They bring a different perspective to decisions. I get disappointed when they try to emulate masculine traits because they think it's the thing to do. I've worked with many women and they can do any job that their size and strength allows them to do.

Several of my bosses have been women, and they are just as good as all but the best of my male supervisors and a good bit better than the worst.

I've longed to hike the Continental Divide for years, ever since I got a book about the Pacific Crest Trail. It would be a challenge of lifetime proportions, and I envy that young woman.
