You might have *missed* what 'public' news there is (for example: you seem to have TOTALLY forgotten the press conferences that the President of Afghanistan gave, just last year , and which were 'splashed' all across the world's newspapers... in which he flat-out charged the Pakistani government --- and specifically the I.S.I. --- with supporting and aiding the Taliban in their attacks and incursions into Afghanistan....) Now, the C.I.A. and British Intel., etc., are not really in the habit of 'creating policy' by throwing big splashing press conferences like that, and explaining what's going on in the world to the general public (that is not a tasking they have :-), however there *are* regular briefing to their respective governments and such, (Congress' relevant committees, the WH primarily since they *are* an Executive agency, etc....), and the jist of what they are saying in private to government leaders does have a way of getting back to the public.... Now, upon the occasion of Karzai's major, and *public*, charges, there were PLENTY of attempts to confirm the specifics of his charges, down in the press items that were written all across the world.... Sourcing various 'un-named but highly placed', <GGG>, Intelligence folks from the world's various Intelligence agencies. And, the confirmations from the CIA, Brits, Chinese, Indian Intelligence, reports to Congress by the CRS which were then leaked, Stratfor's reports, etc., etc., seemed overwhelming conclusive. And... not at all for the first time. However, if you continue to want to 'see no evil' in Pakistan and in their support for Taliban and a variety of other jihadists and terrorists and insurgents... want to ignore their connections to the actual 9-11 attacks... want to ignore the 'hero status' for A.Q. Khan --- the greatest proliferator of nuclear weapons technology of the past 50 years... and want to BELIEVE the duplicitous double-game they are playing with us... well, that is certainly up to you... and I doubt that any amount of evidence would cause to to reaccess. What is surprising to me, is that you seem willing to admit to the evidence of HISTORY: that they essentially created, supported, financed (with the Saudis...), and armed the Taliban. That they deployed them because they BELIEVED IT TO BE IN THEIR STRATEGIC INTEREST TO DO SO... providing a like-minded Sunni/Pushtun State to their West to protect them from Iran's power, and cranking out a steady stream of impressionable/indoctrinated young Jihadists that could, equally WELL, be employed fighting terrorist battles for Pakistan's interests TO THEIR EAST in Kashmir against the Indian State, or elsewhere in India proper... and also increasing the power and influence of Pakistan throughout the rest of the (very volatile) South Asian region --- and yet you seem to want to believe (WITHOUT MUCH EVIDENCE, I can't help but point out! :-) that, somehow, for some yet undescribed but presumably substantial reason, that their national STRATEGIC PLANS AND GOALS FOR DECADES have suddenly shifted on a dime by 180 degrees. (While all I'm saying is that logic, and the available evidence, indicates that that is NOT SO. They may have tacked a bit against a headwind --- shifted a couple of points, perhaps --- but not even '90 degrees' yet, not anything fundamental .)
