I agree she says what she says to sell books, but IMHO, a provocateur who plays to the worst in people, attempting to ignite racist fears and resentment with ridiculous conspiracy theories about Catholic Kennedy's revenge on the WASP, destruction of white America, new non-white, non-protestant overlords, and even genocide IS racist, but is also WORSE than a racist. She is an opportunist, a demagogue, seeking fortune or power or both by taking normal folk's latent insecurities and lack of familiarity of other races and cultures, and blowing them up into an angry mob political force. She is no different in that regard than the worst of the Ku Klux Klan grand wizardry in their glory days, battling civil rights and desegregation of schools, or the "nativist" agitators of earlier anti-immigrant waves, encouraging attacks on Chinese immigrants out west or printing up "no Irish need apply" signs to sell to business owners back east. As for your not supporting the bill, of course that does not make you a racist. I never said it did. But (other) people here are posting and defending Ann Coulter's racist, xenophobic rants and I have yet to see anyone here articulate a better plan than to work out a bipartisan compromise bill. It is the nature of compromise solutions that they leave no one completely satisfied, but the alternative is to do nothing and sit back and rant and whine about a problem that isn't going away. And you can forget Laz's draconian national operation wetback. It ain't gonna happen because the American people wouldn't stand for it, thank God, and even a Republican-controlled Congress wouldn't pass it.
