Most fly it because they are celebrating their southern heritage.

Some people flying that flag or displaying pictures of it are racist, but that doesn't make them slavery supporters. And a number aren't racist, or are only minimally racist.

For many its about their personal identity as a person from the South, for others its rebelling against the norm. I'm not exactly a supporter of flying such a flag, but the implication that anyone who would do so is evil, or supports evil isn't justified.


There was a war......a very serious war.......a civil war.....brother fought against brother, son against father. Many people died. The confederate flag is a symbol of the rebellion that started that war. As such, its an offensive symbol.......much like the swastika and other offensive symbols. It has less to do with evil and more to do with offending people.
