"... the policing can be effective without the wild wild west roundups..."

I agree completely. For the illegals that are here now, living peacefully and otherwise lawfully, there's no rush, IMO, to "round them up." THEY KNOW they're illegal, and will probably make few waves, and will either go back home or keep a very low profile. Once word gets around that ICE is now serious about enforcing the law, the attractions of all our "freebies" will become much less enticing.

Hospitals will get far fewer visits to the ER for colds and sprained ankles if there is a serious risk of apprehension or deportation. If something is truly life threatening, that risk would be worth it to get the medical attention needed. Public school enrollments would drop precipitously in some schools, and if illegal immigrant parents care about their kids, they'll go home for the education they need. Groups of young kids that should be in school would be a warning flag for local cops to notify ICE. Etc, etc.

No draconian measures needed. Most would soon find it much easier to go home on their own. Maybe they will get "amnesty" from their own countries as they return to their own borders.

Absolutely....there has never been any attempt made to enforce the existing laws...we don't need "reform"...we need enforcement....
