<<In the last 9 months my sister has worked at Target and Home Depot, and she is shocked to find that there is a serious labor shortage.<<

The answer to that is better pay. Its supply and demand. I refuse to allow illegal immigration just to fill job slots for the benefit of corporate America.

Open the wallet and pay the people!

n the last 9 months my sister has worked at Target and Home Depot, and she is shocked to find that there is a serious labor shortage. Both corporations are really, really hurting for workers to fill all positions during all hours of operation.

neeka...

the only reason for a 'labor shortage' is a 'wage shortage'

6 people calling in sick???

c'mon....people do that kind of thing when they feel there is little to lose....

biz in this country is addicted to cheap, foreign labor..

i recently returned from a trip scouting out some commercial development projects in the SW....

the agent that was showing us around in the incredibly growing town said that she was a 'native'....i asked her about agriculture (which was astonishing....like $5B per year!) and she told me when she was a kid .....all of the HS students picked produce....

imagine that

My 16 year old son has been out putting in applications every place he can for the past 3 weeks. He still doesn't have a job. No one will hire him because he doesn't have previous work experience. He's 16 for crying out loud!!

Lowes and Home Depot won't hire him because he's not 18. Too much liability. Wal-Mart won't hire him because he doesn't have two previous employers they can call. The department stores are all the same. He can get a job at any one of the burger joints working the midnight shift and, depending on his work ethic, he can be promoted to assistant manager of the night shift before the summer is over, all when he's never held a job before and he's only 16.

Here we have a 16 year old American male, A/B student looking for employment and can't get it because he's never held a job.

My question is, how do all these illegals get jobs in these same places my son is looking for employment at. They're here illegally, my son was born here. They had to fill out the same application as my son. Did these places hire these people because they had the required previous jobs and if so, how did they check on them? Or, did these applicants lie? Well, we already know they don't follow the law, they're here illegally!!!
