That's exactly it, B, in a nutshell. And so much of the publicity failed to point that out, but chose to try to portray him as all dream- as if he woke up singing in Italian. I felt that demeaned him and his work. He wasn't quite the amateur they made him. And his is an interesting story regardless. I have known many young opera aspirants.. opera is a different ballgame from just "singing". And it is tough to break in, very much like the NBA or Hollywood. His voice isn't really at a level that qualified him for that tier, but he was doing well to be touring Europe with a company and singing with the Royal Phil. A lot of people would consider that success! Anyway, I swear, this is my last post. Paul Potts is discovered. It is the stuff of dreams. But also as you perfectly put it, the just reward for hard work.
