The country supported Bush on Afghanistan, but many, if not most, Democrat politicians did not. Democrats took to the floor to wail about the 'long Afghan winter' or give lectures on how Afghanistan has never been conquered in all of history by an invading army, and we were sure to get bogged down in a quagmire if we tried it. I wonder how many of them now say they supported the invasion all along... Those old C-Span clips would be great fodder for YouTube.
