That's one of the things I like about them, too, John.

I'm not ignoring the other suggestions and opinions. Just replying to the last one.

Text vs arrows will become a user-configurable option as soon as John's able to implement it. Unfortunately, I made it quite difficult to add new user-config items on SI and put a ban on additional user-config items until the underlying structure can be done right, like I did on iHub. No such ban for this item as it's pretty important.

I like the idea of different colors on the arrows, but I'm not sure why.

The main thing I like about the arrows is how much space they free up. I don't like clutter very much.

However, one thing I really don't like about the arrows is that they are biased against the ambidextrous. All the arrows should point in all directions.

We could confuse the matter further by making the direction of the arrows user-configurable. Left/Right or Down/Up.

You can do that with the upper "next".

I think I could get used to the arrows.
