that's one of the strangest things i've ever read on SI.

how do you know? did he tell you? did somebody else tell you? did you figure he must be enlightened because his posts are arrogant, insulting, and lacking in lucidity? did you measure him with an enlightenment meter?

it is impossible to tell whether another person is enlightened. the Buddha himself said you could live in the same room with another monk for one hundred years and you would never know if he is enlightened.

on the other hand, it is pretty easy to tell when someone's an asshole -g-.

The human brain can believe pretty much anything if it wants to as has been shown many times. It's a strange thing but people will often become more attached not less when their guru's statements are incomprehensible. All it takes for many is a little bluster and arrogance and they're sold. I suppose it's the wish for certainty.

I'm quite ready to believe from his personality that he was a scientist but not his career boasts given his misstatements on probability.

In any case this will be my last post on the subject.
