Well, at least WWII had a better result that recent wars, say Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War, Iraq, and probably Iran in due time. The Gulf War didn't turn out too bad, but resulted in the Iraq War since we did exactly as you relate and now are doing again in Iraq.

To paraphrase an old Peter Paul and Mary song: "When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn?"

Course POLITICALLY, our Democratic President had made a deal with Russia to PARTION that portion of the world so we HAD to go slow to allow them to get to Berlin first while we cleaned up everywhere else. This resulted in a very long and costly cold war that probably would have been avoided had we had a more honest government. jdn
