CJ, > But why do they have close to nothing? They have mineral wealth, including oil and gas, they have agriculture, they have excellent harbors, they even have a reasonable pool of educated people. Not to mention very close access to US markets.

Don't forget tourism.

Another con job at the expense of the American taxpayer. There are probably layers upon layers of this shat going on as I type. Tonite, CNN interviewed one of the board members asking him why this crapola happened. His response: I guess the board needed to pay better attention. It seems they paid enough attention to raise butthole Small's salary from 1/2 million to nearly a million dollars in 7 years. Unfriggingbelieveable!

In a Tough Hearing, Smithsonian Is Urged to Find a New Chief Fast

"The independent panel’s report, the tougher of the two issued last week, found that Mr. Small’s compensation increased to $915,698 in 2007 from $536,100 in 2000, even as he took nearly 70 weeks of vacation — about 10 weeks a year — and spent 64 business days during that period serving on corporate boards."

>True. But why do they have close to nothing? They have mineral wealth, including oil and gas, they have agriculture, they have excellent harbors, they even have a reasonable pool of educated people. Not to mention very close access to US markets. Yet Mexico has not benefited from globalization and the outsourcing that the US companies have been engaged in.

Yeah, but that isn't the fault of the average person on the streets.
