In my work, I ofter drove company cars. My first two were both VW bugs. 1966 and a 1968 both beige in color. I once drove one of them from Lubbock, TX where I was officed, to Ogden, UT on business. It was a dog to drive in the mountains, except downhill. I was blown off the highway while driving across Oklahoma in a wind storm. I threatened to quit if I had to continue on the road in that car. Boss bought me a new 68 Buick.

I guess that means I'm not a former hippie since I've only had one. -gg-

I saw the cutest little VW bug yesterday when I left the house. I just wanted to go up to the guy and ask him if he was interested in selling, but he drove off in the opposite direction. It was an older one and in pristine condition.

I read Ken's post to you, and have to say I can completely sympathize with the wind thing. We drove Blue to LV from colo one march and while I was driving over a pass was literally pushed backwards by the wind.

I would love to own one now though.

BTW: The Toyota Matrix is looking rather good to me.
