The US lost its grip on the situation in Iraq. One day they back Al Sadder (an Iranian backed thug) the next they back the Sunni insurgents. That reminds me of when the US backed OBL and AQ. The US lost its credibility and deal will backfire in its face. Once the US leaves Iraq will stabilize. You have to remember, that the Iraqis by nature are nationalists.
As for your theory, the US should have thought of all possibilities before invading, however, its master Israel needed it there.
