re: Make it all free and you can bet that I'll be choosing the more expensive option. But someone will be paying for it. Not me, of course, since the amount I'll be contributing in taxes or whatever will not change. Then why is health care so much cheaper in countries with single payer? Your argument has a nice ring to it but in practice it's just false.

P.S. - I have to clarify what I said earlier about "irresponsible lazy bums." If I had a family member who needed health care, I'd be glad to help out with the costs, UNLESS he demanded it from me just because I make more money. In response to his demand, I'll tell him he's an "irresponsible lazy bum." I wouldn't care if he has three children to feed and has to work two jobs to do it. Just his demanding attitude itself will draw such a response from me. Its your right to take this attitude but let me just say for the record, its not what Jesus preached.
