there are 2 ways to make the same point : 1. What evidence do we have that is irrefutable that the govt of Iran is playing a part and its not the people of Iran ? 2. You want a "US Govt sponsored event" to consider : heres aa couple : Remember Iran/Contra ? Another that I am familiar with is in the year 1971 : India was at war with Pakistan. USS Enterprise (part of what was called the 7th fleet), was in the Indian Ocean, very close to the naval border between India & Pakistan, with an unfriendly tone towards India. It is no secret, that Pakistani barges would visit the USS Enterprise and return with a boatload of arms. A third case : Recently the CIA declassified a bunch of docs. I have read in the Indian Press, that in some of them the US administration at that time encouraged China to engage in a war with India - which did result in the 1962 war between India and China.
