<Only the former is uniquely bad and subject to judgement> What is uniquely bad is any American who touts policies that are designed to benefit Israel at the expense of the national security of the United States of America. Israel does and should look out for itself. And our support of Israel is warranted so long as Israel behaves itself -- by which I mean so long as Israel does not actively harm us or behave in ways that are blatantly illegal and unethical. But to put Israeli interests far ahead of our own interests -- indeed to push an Israeli agenda even if it damages US interests -- this sort of person should be viewed as something of a traitor in America. The invasion of Iraq was touted in no small part as a means of reducing the threat level to Israel. There is nothing wrong with that, so long as the invasion was in the interests of the United States of America. But is was not in our interests, any more than the current war mongering in relation to Iran is in our interests. Your vapid critique of what you call "the Left" is as transparent as your touting the Israeli party line. You don't care about "the Left" any more than I do. What you care about is promoting what you see as the interests of Israel at all costs.

Indeed I have, Nadine. The Left in America should be ashamed as to what their party has slithered to.

The FarLeft is so much like the Islamofacists....They are the ONLY ones who deem themselves having the answer, and it doesn't make any difference how many people they have to kill and/or silence to get their way.

The moderate Left, if there are still some of the nearly extinct folks left, are doing the same thing the majority of the Muslims are doing...hiding their head and their voices.

LB posted an Opinion sometime last week, that held within the body of it, something to the effect that the Muslim religion AND the Muslim politics are one in the same thing. They are combined.

America and most of the world don't have only one faction for both combined religion and politics.

It is amazing how the left continues to push its anti-imperialist agenda from the cold war as if islamic fundamentalists were communists. BUT and its a big but, US policy was often wrongheaded in the cold war and is often wrong-headed now. You dont have to be an apollgist for this administration to know which way the wind blows. Anybody see the NYTImes full page editorial today on gettng out of iraq. Made some excellent points and did not ignore the ugly possiblities that are on the horizon once pullout begins.
