Hawk, seems the difference of opinion arises from :

- you feel Iranians are supporting both sides of a conflict in Iraq
- you feel the US always supports only 1 side in a conflict, even if it happens halfway across the world.

- my feeling is the US may support 1 side in a conflict but that support is dynamic, not static. examples : Iran/Contra, Pakistan/India, China/India, Iraq/Iran.
