Really? You don't know why Muslims don't eat pork? Jews don't eat pork either. Religious Jews also have their women dress modestly, though not as modestly as Muslim women.

You don't know why religious people do these things?

"It's sort of the same as asking Catholics to justify forbidding condoms. For most of the world, that is insane. For them, not."

I've argued with some Catholic relatives on this point. According to them, once a man has squirted in a woman, a miracle might take place. The condom is a miracle-preventer.

For some reason this is ONLY a miracle in humans.

That comes from the go out and bear fruit, as in fruit of the loins. You're supposed to have children that's why God gave you those parts. Unless you're a priest or nun. Then you're married to God and vow chastity.

It is "just because" or is it because "righteous men don't eat pork" or what?

That one is pretty easy. Or at least one can come up with a plausible explanation as in pigs are filthy. Similar to the restrictions of not eating animals that are scavengers. You wouldn't want to eat something that had been chomping on rotting flesh.

Those are easy. My favorite is the Jewish dietary laws on the front half of the cow vs. the back half of the cow. The front half is easy. Just slit the throat to let the blood drain out and carve the front half up and enjoy. The back half is more difficult. It's possible to eat the back half, but you have to remove all the fat, sinew and veins from the back half for it to be kosher. The rabbis of 5 or 6 thousand years ago didn't realize there was one circulatory system in cows. I would like to believe an update to the dietary laws would be in order, but we wouldn't want to make any rash changes would we?
