That is exactly how Bush got elected -- understanding how little Americans knew about, understood or cared about what is going on in the rest of the world. Canadians, Germans, Britains - they are all more world wise than Americans and their media reflect this interest. You could argue that America has the media it deserves -- pack journalism, soundbites, propaganda and tabloid news. Journalism was once a profession with standards. Now it is just a sideshow and a tool for government policy.
