Four years ago I spent a lot of time defending Bush. Not because I was such a huge supporter, but more because I thought (and still think) he was the subject of a lot of false attacks, and also many other attacks that might contain an element of truth, but where that element was greatly exaggerated. In some cases it extended beyond exaggeration or falsehood in to the bizarre ("Bush = Hitler", "Bush knew about (or caused) 9/11", etc.)
