No, my grandfather was military. He wasn't a photographer.

Many of the family were military. He was in the Spanish American war, the Mexican War, (lots of memorabilia from those) at Fort Sill during the first world war and died on a trip from Fort Bragg into South Carolina... there is a small street in the old officer's quarters named for him, however many older officers had streets named after them :)

I did not know my grandfather but Gran was a favorite in my life for years!

... too bad I didn't pay attention to all that was said... but sigh... I was a kid...

now my oldest cousin loved history and would probably know much about that. Joe (husband) knows more about my family than do I. Our families in a strange way are intertwined as my uncle who was military also had met Joe's father, and Uncle William also knew General Volckmann for whom Joe was an aide at Fort Bragg when my sister and I were young and dateable ;)

My dad flew for General DeWitt (who carried out Roosevelt's order to intern the Japanese during WWII). sfmuseum.org My dad also loved photography and later did take many pictures. One was displayed with many others at the Smithsonian Institution with many other contributors. I have a copy of that too, but that copy is rolled up in scroll and did not receive proper care (who knew that photos should not be stored in a hot attic in N.C. and elsewhere :) I also have some Alaskan shots of his when he flew up there - those are also military photos.

There are so many military on both sides of the family that if the dead were raised we'd have an army... but the dems wouldn't appreciate that :) hehehehe

As too the floor of the '98 Honda snapping off the hook... one of those things... next time I shall know and it can be propped up more securely... one is supposed to be able to lift that out and use it as a table. It's a fine car without giving us problems other than normal care over the years.

History is history and very interesting however no matter what our backgrounds, (and I was fortunate to love those I knew) we all have to stand alone and be responsible for our own decisions, good or bad, do we not? I'm thinking prolly 'the buck stops here' should be right for each of us as an individual instead of the background game and the blame game and 'it depends upon what your definition of 'is' is' (a famous quote I believe <wink>)
