Well, you limit your statement to "I see a problem...", but again leave out the detail and only discuss Penthouse and Playboy. As I understand you, you see a problem with advertising depicting what most of us consider very attractive women, because.....this is where you get fuzzy and leave out the details. Most of us enjoy very much seeing beautiful (and sexy) women a la Vic Secret, so their depiction in the media (or anywhere) is not a problem for us. To the extent that it is a problem for you, it helps if you explain (exactly) why. Without your clear explanation as to why YOU see the depiction of beautiful and sexy women throughout the media, it's hard to discuss the topic.

So far the only nuggets which you've provided which explain your problem are 1- it causes a low self image amongst women who's bodies don't resemble the media women, and 2- something about the models are generally pictured as receiving as opposed to, I guess, throwing, or something like that.

2 is a completely undeveloped point, and the only solution to 1, it would seem, would be to ban standardized images of beauty (as achieved by the burka), which as you point out, is totally backasswards draconian policy.

If you think about how far we've travelled since the 60's, in terms of using women's bodies in advertising, I think reasonable people could wonder what is on the horizon.

Forget the horizon, lets talk the here and now. Most people watch TV, read magazines, see billboards, and I'd say 99% of them like it when a beautiful woman appears in any of those media, and the woman is generally completely clothed. So.....what again is your issue with sexuality in the media? If sex is good and a woman's beauty is somthing many of us appreciate and enjoy, I'd say we should have more sex in the media, until our desire for said enjoyment is satiated, not less.
