"Check out all of August 1964.....Americans are committed to Vietnam War..." This is clearly where our participation in the war began. Before that it was cold war stuff that involved some minimal risk. LBJ plunged in to the war with gulf of tonking in august. And tonkin was based on a lie. Somewhere between 64 and 68 when johnson quit the race he reaized that vietnam was not winnable. Casualties at that point were somewhere in the 20-30k range. At that point our participation went from stupid to immoral as we let americans continue to die until 1974 for no reason other than the asian one of saving face. Since when are we asian? Gotta go.
