Remember how vehemently you oppose the religious right, because even though you might not attend church, you suspect they want to control your life? I personally don't subscribe to the religion of environmentalism, yet I'm going to have my life controlled by those who think they're "saving the planet." Hmmmmm........your need for religion is your need, not mine and not the need for a lot of other people. So please stop trying to turn every value of mine into a religion. I want clean air because its easier to breathe. I want clean rivers because they can be used for swimming and fishing. I want clean lakes because I like to water ski. I don't want a hothouse of an earth because I don't like hot weather. Religion is for people who need to believe in something so they understand their purpose in life. They need something they can turn to when they are confused. It helps them understand their own problematic pathologies. Its why so many religious types pervert their religion for their own purposes. At those moments when it doesn't provide an answer, or it doesn't provide the right answer, they fill in the answer they want. Gore isn't trying to turn us into your dreaded nanny state but rather he's trying to save the earth. I want the dreaded nanny state. Who knows what Gore wants.
