Mr David Dull has outwit himself with that free offer to service providers.

- which company will manufacture chips just intended for government services and non profit org? Not enough volume to justify economies of scale

- US custom: separating the goods coming to the US and allows only those shipped to selection organization

When you play with matches often enough, you'll eventually burn yourself.

Mr. Dull's statement shows that his professionalism has left him. I guess he has become the Lou Lupin of BRCM..

RK:

Broadcom expects patent exhaustion to apply when licensed by Qualcomm (snip)

I have been thinking that, yes, brcm is in collusion to attack qcom. But, I've also been thinking that if qcom yielded a bit on licensing terms brcm would sign. After reading your post it occurred to me that for what reason would brcm sign a new licensing agreement with qcom before qcom and nok finish hashing things out?

If nok is able to obtain a lower rate from qcom based on patent exhaustion then brcm could claim the same. If brcm signs with qcom now and then nok wins, brcm cannot profit by this.

If nok is able to extract significantly more favorable terms from qcom, I don't believe it will affect the other licensees until it is time for their license renewal. brcm is in the unique position of being a potential major player and being unsigned.

So, since brcm is already selling wcdma asics, why would brcm sign a license with qcom before the question of patent exhaustion is settled?
