I think she did go the libertarian route (although not the anarchist) even though she would have denied it.

She believed in limited Constitutional Government, as defined by the Founding Fathers. That is not a "Libertarian" position, but rather a "Conservative" one. But she was not a Conservative. She had more problems with Conservatives than Liberals. Especially over abortion, religion and selfishness.
