I'm not sure anyone is so "small-government" that they would prevent their govt from protecting the nation. If the intended purpose of govt is to protect and defend the nation and its people, funding NATO is not only acceptable but necessary.

Making govt so small that it cannot protect and defend itself is counter productive.

I used NATO as an example because its a long-term primary treaty relationship. But Ron Paul is opposed to all international treaties including free trade agreements. If this isn't grounds to label someone isolationist, what would be?
