Of course it does, Z. It just distracts from focusing on the things that are doing well. See, because if you pretend it is all roses, then when things clearly fall apart, you can blame those who pointed out the weaknesses as the actual cause...

Unemployment is below 5%, Dow and S&P 500 are hitting record highs, and the GDP hasn't experienced negative growth in any single quarter since 2001.

Didn't you claim one time that our elected officials have the ability to create a mood of optimism in this country? Wouldn't that be "talking up" the economy?
