Here's a government site where you can see our National Debt to the penny for any date or range of dates between 1/4/1993 and the present. It's updated daily.

You can discover some interesting things.

For example, between 1/21/1993 and 1/20/2001, a period of exactly eight years, our total National Debt increased by roughly 1.55 trillion dollars. Yikes.

But if that weren't bad enough, between 1/21/2001 and 7/16/2007, the debt rose a whopping 3.16 trillion. That's more than twice as much in a six and a half year span than it rose during the previous eight years.
