<Isn't this the cost of that failure?> We created conditions for civil war and now are part of the process of killing and displacing tens of thousands of people a month in a sectarian bloodbath. The issue is not how to 'win' -- the issue is how to end this fiasco. The costs of failure are already upon us and they are mounting -- it is a tragedy. There is no happy ending here -- no happy faces, flying kites or heroes riding into town on tanks -- only misery, pain and death. Lies, 'yes men' and ideological fantasies are not going to get you anywhere but dig a deeper and deeper hellhole for Iraqis and for us. Face the truth and you might get someplace.
